Architectural Styles
There are more than 220 historic buildings in Homer – more than in any other community in the state. The predominant styles found include Federal, Greek Revival, and Victorian.
You will also find New England Vernacular styles, Italianate, French Second Empire (also known as Mansard style), and Romanesque revival buildings, along with a sprinkling of more unique designs, such as Gothic and Octagon.
Unfortunately, Homer’s present collection of historic structures, while impressive, does not include the log cabins built by the earliest settlers. All that remains of Homer’s most significant log homes are the sites noted with historical markers.
